Demolished Narrative

This work looks to document the diminishing heritage of post-war Modernist tower block housing in Birmingham, UK. Both an object of dislike and alienation, tower blocks are slowly being erased from the skyline, while their residents and narratives are dissipated. Empty vessels, these soon to be demolished building leave traces of occupation.

There are 213 tower blocks in the city, making Birmingham City Council one of the biggest high-rise landlords in the UK, while mass public housing estates such as Chelmsley wood and Castle Vale remain some of the most ambitious housing projects in Europe.
